Blackberry Mobile Phones
Blackberry mobile phones are a Smartphone device with email capabilities developed by a Canadian company called Research in Motion. The company’s devices date back to 1999 and its Smartphone’s date back to 2003. The devices put a lot of emphasis on the use of mobile email technology.
Blackberry has a good market share of the mobile phone and Smartphone market which has many older,more established competitors. Blackberry is not the market leader but does have some great devices that are very popular around the world. During his 2008 presidential campaign,Barrack Obama used a Blackberry device for mobile communication.
The Blackberry devices have an encrypted messaging facility which allows secure messaging. However,a number of countries have objected to the use of this secure feature and so the company has not been able to easily provide the service worldwide.
Blackberry devices differ from other smart phones,mainly due to the physical qwerty keyboard that is a prominent feature of Blackberry’s. Most Smartphone’s,including Apple’s iPhone,operate with a touch screen. Some manufacturers have released models with the Blackberry’s email client and many of these also have a full qwerty keyboard. The benefit of the qwerty keyboard is that computer users are already familiar with the layout as it is a qwerty keyboard that modern computers use;it is given it’s name from the firs 6 letters on the keyboard which are q w e r t y. The use of the qwerty keyboard on Blackberry Mobile Phones allows users to input text with their thumb,this has been nicknamed thumbing and allows for an easy way of text input.
